|
Jamie Shinabarger has been elected chair of Friends of Traditional Banking. He is president, CEO and director of Springs Valley Bank & Trust Company as well as the parent company, SVB&T Corporation. He is currently chairman of the Indiana Bankers Association and has been serving on the Executive Committee of FOTB.
“I am humbled, but excited, to be elected as chair of FOTB for 2023-2024! To follow in the footsteps of Joye Hunt’s excellent leadership (chair for two consecutive two-year terms / 2019-2022) will be a big challenge as we gear-up, retool, and refresh FOTB infrastructure and strategies for maximum effectiveness in the next key election," said Shinabarger.
“I will rely on guidance and support from Vice Chair Amada Alvidrez, Executive Director Mike Winder, and the rest of the FOTB Executive Committee, as well as the Advisory Council (state bank association executives) and Nationwide Banker Board, to grow FOTB’s reach and impact over the next two years!" he said.

FOTB Friend Rep. Andy Barr to Chair Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Monetary Policy
In the new Congress, Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY) has been asked to chair the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Monetary Policy. Representative Barr has a long-standing history of supporting the interests of banks and the banking industry. He has been an outspoken critic on issues that harm traditional banks such as “junk fees”.
Friends of Traditional Banking played a critical role in helping Rep. Barr win a tough reelection race in 2018. He has been, and continues to be, a strong common sense voice in Congress. "Your organization is an outstanding compliment to the efforts of ABA and ICBA," Congressman Barr has said to FOTB leaders. "Your political activism is very needed and appreciated."

Tech Talent Challenges and Warnings
|
A message from our sponsor BankOnITUSA:
People continue to be the most important IT resource and the battle for tech talent continues. While postings for technical positions declined in November, there is still more hiring than layoffs, with the unemployment rate for technology jobs dropping to 2%, down from 2.2% in October. But we are seeing inflation – résumé inflation.

PAID for by Friends of Traditional Banking. NOT authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee.
Friends of Traditional Banking is a non-partisan grassroots effort organized by bankers in 2012 to improve the political and regulatory environment for the traditional banking industry in the U.S. FOTB is the inverse of a PAC--instead of spreading a little bit of money to a lot of campaigns, they focus a lot of money on a couple of key campaigns.
