Sen. Jon Tester (MT) to Visit with
Friends of Traditional Banking
Friends of Traditional Banking leaders are scheduled to visit with U.S. Senator Jon Tester on Tuesday, March 7. The Senator from Montana was the first Democrat endorsed by FOTB, which played a critical role in helping with his 2018 reelection victory. Without Senator Tester's help, Dodd-Frank regulation reform would not have passed in 2018.

Sen. Tester will brief the leadership teams on the latest in Washington and answer their questions. He will be asked about what he is working on to help strengthen banking and the economy, including the latest on the SAFE Banking Cannabis Act, his bill to prohibit foreign entities from buying American farmland, and the the soon to be introduced Access to Credit for our Rural Economy Act (ACRE formerly known as ECORA).

Sen. Tester serves on the Senate Banking Committee, and also on the Financial Institutions and Consumer Protection Subcommittee.
Banking Allies Present Industry Agendas to Congress

FOTB has always supported our allies in the industry, including the American Bankers Association (ABA) and Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA). This month, both groups shared priorities with Congress.

ICBA President & CEO Rebecca Romero Rainey released their legislative agenda this month, encouraging a fair and competitive landscape and regulatory policies to promote economic growth. Also this month, Jim Reuter, president and CEO of Denver-based FirstBank, represented the ABA in presenting their public policy priorities to the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Monetary Policy.

Friends of Traditional Banking supports the many policy areas where these two groups overlap and determine our "friends" and "foes" in Congress by how they respond.

As the elderly can be more vulnerable, it can also present as elder abuse. An AARP survey reported 27% of U.S. adults have been targeted or knew someone that was targeted by an online relationship scam, and 4% fell victim.

Friends of Traditional Banking is a non-partisan grassroots effort organized by bankers in 2012 to improve the political and regulatory environment for the traditional banking industry in the U.S. FOTB is the inverse of a PAC--instead of spreading a little bit of money to a lot of campaigns, they focus a lot of money on a couple of key campaigns.
